MADISON (WKOW) — Madison police confiscated more than three dozen roosters believed to be used for cockfighting.
The raid Tuesday night at 1200 Moorland Rd. also resulted in the arrest of 47-year-old Jorge Luis Iglesias.
Police Officer Howard Payne said 37 roosters were found in a caged living area at the address.
“They also found a dedicated area for fighting activity with animals and an observation area where chairs were set up.” According to Payne, “It looked like a scene for cockfighting.”
Iglesias is charged with instigating fighting with animals which is a felony. He is being held at the Dane County Jail.
The animals were taken to the Dane County Humane Society.
